there's no lock on the door
your face covered with bloodstained mouths
she is in the bleak light
marking bodies with knives
disgusting and still bleeding
doom convulsing in her nightmares
you speak and ash falls out of your mouth
and death pours out of your eyes
out of your mouth
there's no answer to find
your face on the clock never dies
she is in the tainted light
mending caskets that fly
hostile smiling balloons with guns
annihilation and love
you scream and ash falls out of your mouth
and life pours out of your eyes
out of your mouth
the night melts all over
your face in the boiling water
she is in the stolen light
killing a sun that lies

brittle red leafs lay all over the ground
and you are breathing the evening air
you wait and you watch as the sun goes down
and you are soothed by the evening air
yellow street lights fall all over the ground
you are tired walking slowly home
and you feel the great sadness of the world
you are tired but you're almost home
and worlds crash down and you fall to the floor
and you're stuck here with nowhere to go
so beautiful and so full of love
and you're still here it won't let you go
something calls out and it shatters your core
it breaks your heart there's nowhere to go
you're beautiful and you're worthy of love
but it's still here it won't let you go
the sound of rain falling on the window
you are awake and thinking of her
and the moon is there watching over you
you are asleep and dreaming of her
the feeling of sunlight falls on your face
you are afraid and slowly waking
and you get up like you do every day
you are afraid of always waking
and worlds crash down and you fall to the floor
and you're stuck here with nowhere to go
so beautiful and so full of love
and you're still here it won't let you go
something calls out and it shatters your core
it breaks your heart there's nowhere to go
you're beautiful and you're worthy of love
but it's still here it won't let you go

Beneath Still Waters

alone on a boat in the ruins
flood and walls fall into water
streets and sidewalks with ruined cars and bikes
rust and overgrowth and broken windows
I put my hand in the water
I unfold into dreams looking for the sink girl
who lives in a house made of stone and zinc
it sits by a rock and a lake at the edge of the woods
in a ruin
beneath the surface
clear and still
I hold the sun in my hands
just a dreadful sense
of loneliness
being cut off from
everybody else
and brightest waters turn into dusk
fading roofs on broken buildings
and shattered glass shining in green and red
it's all covered in cracks and weeds and grass
she's got her head in the water
her arms raised her hands catch the sun
as she wakes up and meets your eyes
you're the moon and the water and all of the world
held in her broken heart
in a ruin
beneath the surface
clear and still
I hold the sun in my hands
just a dreadful sense
of loneliness
being cut off from
everybody else

halfway there naive and burning drained of rain
fearless and welcomed returning after ages
five cherries in a collar around your neck
seeing through a veil of gold and black and gray
tired of being something like a vague hush
a sickness transferred over glittering wires
from building to building from hell to heavy hearts
yielding to blurry happy sister machines
perishing before mountains that point and sigh
slipping like fuzz and overly dramatic smiles
happily imploding into open wounds
it's a lovely lovely life to admire
now you are halfway there led by keen desire
accepting precious care to not become lost
shivering distances inviting small maids
a jewel paste spread all over the sun

they say light never falls on dead moon's hill
that nothing ever grows on dead moon's hill
and nothing truly dies on dead moon's hill
that something evil sleeps on dead moon's hill
a cry like joy from hell
the sound from dead moon's hill
a creature hard of heart
its tender face of fear
and the town wails and cries
the sound from dead moon's hill
a phantom's cry of grief
her fragile mask of tears
they say it rains blood on dead moon's hill
that witches fuck and kill on dead moon's hill
and nightmares become real on dead moon's hill
that only monsters live on dead moon's hill
a cry like joy from hell
the sound from dead moon's hill
a creature hard of heart
its tender face of fear
and the town wails and cries
the sound from dead moon's hill
a phantom's cry of grief
her fragile mask of tears

heads crawl out of busy ears
holding knives between their sharpened teeth
eager to cut and see what's inside
and to dissect and explore for profit
for pleasure to judge all who
live and desire approval
who move and overflow
this is how the day falls
the sky melts in your hands
the air is bruised and dead
it all glows in your head
heads cook on metal trays in the heat
they swell and grow
pulsing with anger full of fear
crows peck at eyes and between teeth
the sun is annoyed and drunk
scorching sick and shouting and singing
a sorry story to live and remember
this is how the day falls
the sky sticks to your hands
the air is still and red
it all glows in your head

Grief Seed

an empty station covered with moths
dreadful old sense of burning and tears
hands full of sorrow empty and cold
and knowing that there's nothing to gain
there's a shining train going elsewhere
it's made of flowers and dreams of flesh
they say it was grown from grieving seeds
and watered with the tears of witches
wrapped in blankets and here forever
cold haunting rain outside the window
rain by the door and angry hearts
air rushing out through cracks in the roof
face made of marble with static eyes
flesh wrapped around bone held by string
skin made of stone and bark and wet sand
head full of fear and moaning blood
are you asking them
for another chance
for another life
for another home
asking for some kinder gods
these do not deserve to hear your voice
are you asking them
for another you
for some sign of life in the void
for something to break and for something to grow
just for something to shift

dead seconds wallow in clear regret
nurses roar and pack snow into empty eyes
imploding and laughing like giddy dolls
dry burns slowly dragging bodies
from page to fluttering page
all their time spent in tense murmurs
ready to spoil and degrade
a living box sits by the door
it reeks of malicious intent
shy shapes in the corners stir
whispering with small voices
unsteady and blushing in hallways
laying still on the roof
gentle turns of thoughts
all the useless ghosts drowned in silver light

please go where you need to go
just keep the starlights shining
so the sky will not forget you
while all things thrive
there is a sadness in your breath
no one will forget you in starlight
and you do all that you can
to keep the starlights shining
so they will not forget you
while everything dies
echoes of joy and sweetness
while tears fill the sky as the stars weep
you grow and you learn and you
will keep the starlights shining
forever and ever as
it all comes down again
you despair at the pointlessness
of it all as the sky bursts open
