They Lay Silently Down On The Rose Covered Ground

from I Am A Lesbian Ribbon by Anne Beyond the Darkness

/

lyrics

a ghost dressed in a black cloak walks down the street
and their silver hair cuts everyone around them
they're just a ghost

they see a bridge made of stone
birds of all shapes and sizes nest on the bridge
the ghost crosses over in peace

next they meet a very small forest of pines and moss
the ghost passes through it
enjoying the shade and quiet

and they lay silently down on the rose covered ground
and sink into the earth for a little while as the rain comes down

and rain will fall on the rose covered ground rain falls

a ghost dressed in a black cloak walks through a graveyard
no one notices them
not the living and not the dead

the streets are red and flowing with the blood of the cut
they're thinking of a half forgotten song
they're just a ghost

they walk among the dead and pick roses from their heads
with their basket full they go looking for a barren field

and they lay silently down on the rose covered ground
and sink into the earth for a little while as the rain comes down
